Description
“The Power of Positive Thinking: What You Think is What You Get”:
This presentation will discuss our self talk from a perspective of breaking “scotomas” or “blind spots” that we have about ourselves; address the benefit of a growth mindset vs. fixed mindset; discuss motivation through the self efficacy theory and attribution theory; and target the reality of self fulfilling prophecies.
Kristin Hoffner, Principal Lecturer, School of Nutrition and Health Promotion
Kristin Hoffner came to ASU in August of 2003 to complete her graduate work in Sport, Exercise and Health Psychology. She has held a full time teaching position within the kinesiology program since 2008. Kristin teaches courses in motivational theory, exercise psychology, health behavior change, and psychological skills for optimal performance. She is especially interested in motivating populations to become more active, overall health behavior change, using the mind to promote optimal performance, and the use of exercise in treating mental illness. In addition to teaching, she has served as the president of the downtown campus faculty senate, a faculty representative for Taylor Place Residence Hall, and a member of many other committees. Outside of ASU, she has worked as a high school basketball coach and a sport psychologist at a local golf academy.
